Despite Republicans apparently having two viable candidates to challenge three-term Rep. Annie Kuster (D-Concord), the party leaders have still been attempting to convince former state Representative and Iraq War veteran Lynne Blankenbeker to become a candidate. Though still saying she has not fully decided to run, Ms. Blankenbeker opened a FEC account to allow her to begin raising money for a potential congressional race. Though the state’s western district performs as a liberal seat, Rep. Kuster only scored a 50-45% re-election victory in 2016 against an under-funded Republican opponent. With the New Hampshire electorate continuing to be the nation’s most unpredictable voting block, neither party can count any of the state’s political offices as “safe.”
