State Sen. Chris McDaniel, who came within a half-percentage point of unseating Sen. Thad Cochran in the 2014 Republican primary, confirms he is looking at a 2018 challenge to Sen. Roger Wicker (R). Mr. McDaniel says he is disappointed that Wicker and the congressional delegation have remained silent instead of “championing conservative reform in D.C.” After his close 2014 defeat, McDaniel considered challenging Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-Biloxi) but chose not to move forward. He was re-elected to his state Senate post with more than 85% of the vote in 2015, after being unopposed in the Republican primary. This situation merits watching.
