Remington Research again tested the three-way Kansas gubernatorial campaign, as they did in July. The new survey (9/30-10/1; 1,680 KS likely voters) shows virtually no change from what their July results. The current ballot test conclusion finds state Sen. Laura Kelly (D-Topeka) to be suspended in a virtual tie with Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R), 42-41%, with Independent candidate Greg Orman taking 10%.
In July, the Remington margin for this race was 36-35-12% in the same candidate order. Mr. Kobach scores a poor 38:49% favorability rating. All other statewide Republicans have comfortable leads, suggesting that Mr. Kobach’s failure to develop a strong lead in a reliably Republican state apparently relates more to views about him rather than the Republican Party or conservative ideology.
