Former state Rep. Steve Braun yesterday declared that he will enter the open 4th District Republican primary to replace GOP Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Brownsburg/Lafayette). Last month, the four-term Congressman announced his campaign for US Senate thus leaving the western Indiana district open for the coming election. Mr. Braun served one term in the state House before accepting a gubernatorial appointment from then-Gov. Mike Pence. Mr. Braun’s brother, state Rep. Mike Braun (R-Jasper) is announced US Senate candidate. The 4th District is safely Republican, so Rep. Rokita’s successor will come from the Republican primary. In addition to Mr. Braun, businessman and former gubernatorial aide Diego Morales is the only other officially announced candidate at this time.
