A new Fox News10 (Mobile)/Strategic Research poll (8/7; 2,000 AL registered voters) again finds former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore leading the pack of nine Republican candidates, with appointed Sen. Luther Strange (R) in position to clinch second place. The poll numbers find Judge Moore pulling 35% support as compared to Sen. Strange’s 29%. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) trails in third place with 19%. The findings are largely consistent with other such recent GOP primary polls.
Within the Democratic field of seven, the numbers are tightening. This survey suggests that they, too, will be headed to a run-off. Businessman and retired Navy officer Robert Kennedy Jr. leads the field with 40%, followed by former US Attorney Doug Jones at 30%. The remaining preference percentage is split between the lesser-known candidates. The primary elections are scheduled for Tuesday.
