The Alabama run-off is today, and the significant Republican run-off election between Rep. Martha Roby (R-Montgomery) and former Democratic US Representative and ex-Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright culminates with the secondary election today. Ms. Roby only scored 39% of the vote in the primary, which failing to achieve majority support in a primary is usually a death knell for an incumbent but, in this case, Ms. Roby appears to be the favorite.
The Congresswoman patching up previous problems with President Trump (who has now endorsed her), and emphasizing Mr. Bright’s record as a Democratic Congressman to the hard core Republican electorate who will vote today has seemingly turned the tide in her favor. In any event, tonight’s Republican nominee will hold the seat in the general election.
