Earlier this week, Lancaster City Councilmember Angela Underwood-Jacobs (R) indicated that she will be announcing her congressional challenge to freshman Rep. Katie Hill (D-Agua Dulce/Palmdale) within the next week. Ms. Underwood-Jacobs will already become the fourth Republican to declare his or her candidacy. She joins defense contractor Mike Garcia, non-profit organization executive Suzette Valladares, and GOP activist Charles Patron.
With California moving the state primary to March 3rd, it is not too early for a candidate field to begin to form. In the state’s top-two jungle primary format, the first and second place finisher in the March vote, regardless of party affiliation or percentage attained, will advance to the general election.
