After barely winning his northwestern Minnesota House seat in 1990 and surviving a close re-election two years later, Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Detroit Lakes/western Minnesota) has had easy re-election rides ever since, though he only scored a 52-47% victory against an under-funded challenger last year. This is prompting others to launch their own political efforts. Dave Hughes, the 2016 Republican nominee, is back for another try and state Rep. Tim Miller (R) previously announced his congressional candidacy. Yesterday, businessman Matt Prosch joined the Republican field. It appears the MN-7 campaign will be one to watch in 2018.
