Anne Arundel County Council chairman John Grasso (D), who had threatened to challenge Gov. Larry Hogan (R) over the latter re-appointing an official with whom the former disagreed, has changed his mind. Instead of hopping into the enlarging Democratic gubernatorial primary, Mr. Grasso announced that he will opt to seek the Anne Arundel County Executive position. It is unlikely Grasso would have fared well in the impending Democratic primary. Already in that race are former NAACP president Ben Jealous, Prince Georges County Executive Rushern Baker, state Sen. Rich Madaleno, and former Maryland State University Regent Jim Shea.
