Monmouth University just completed a poll in the swing eastern Pennsylvania congressional district located in Allentown and Bethlehem. The survey (9/5-9; 401 PA-7 potential voters) tested the registered voter pool, those most likely to vote, and what would happen if a Democratic surge were to form.
The results are interesting in that the registered universe produces a better result for Democrat Susan Wild than the Democratic surge model. According to the results, Wild, the Allentown City Solicitor, would lead Lehigh County Commissioner and Olympic gold medalist Marty Nothstein, 46-40%, among registered voters but only 48-44% if the Democratic surge becomes prevalent. The most important category, those most likely to vote, shows an even closer margin, 47-45%, in Wild’s favor. In all scenarios, this race must be considered a toss-up.
