2018 Democratic congressional nominee Dana Balter has scheduled an announcement for Tuesday and most observers believe that she will announce another run for Congress. In November, after raising over $2.7 million for her challenge effort, she lost to incumbent Rep. John Katko (R-Syracuse), 52-46%.
Ms. Balter drew mixed reviews as a candidate, but the 24th is one of only three Hillary Clinton districts that continues to elect a Republican Representative. Rep. Katko will be favored to win in the presidential year, but should Ms. Balter follow through and seek a re-match, this will undoubtedly be a competitive, targeted race.
