Earlier this year, Rep. Mark Walker (R-Greensboro) ruled out challenging Sen. Thom Tillis in the Republican primary. Last month, however, his comments about the subject were a bit less definitive. Now, reports are surfacing that Mr. Walker met with President Trump about the possibility of running statewide.
Though Rep. Walker appears to be moving closer to challenging the first-term Senate incumbent, he has yet to come forward. But, his movements are certainly trending in that direction. Polling suggests this primary would be highly competitive, and North Carolina Senate general elections are always some of the closest in the nation regardless of who is running.
