Last week an Epic MRA poll was conducted (released 7/30; 700 MI-13 likely voters) showing a tight three-way Democratic primary race to replace resigned Rep. John Conyers (D-Detroit). The survey also projected the Congressman’s nephew, state Sen. Ian Conyers (D-Detroit) as faring poorly.
According to Epic, Detroit City Council president Brenda Jones leads ex-state Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Westland Mayor Bill Wild, Sen. Conyers, and fellow state Sen. Coleman Young II (D-Detroit), 24-21-17-9-6%, respectively. The Epic data tracks closely with a Target Insyght poll that was released last week showing a similar bunching of the candidates in the same order. The deciding Michigan primary is August 7th.
