A tabulation error in one county has given Gov. Jeff Colyer a 100-vote boost in his post-election battle with Secretary of State Kris Kobach. On election night, the latter man led the unofficial open Republican gubernatorial primary count by 191 votes. But, the Thomas County officials making a 100-vote tabulation recording error now reduces the margin to 91 votes.
Remaining are between 8,000 and 10,000 provisional and absentee ballots, with more likely on the way. Election officials will accept absentee ballots postmarked on Election Day or before up through close of business today. Not all of the uncounted votes are Republican primary ballots, so it is difficult to say just how many will remain in political overtime. It is clear, however, that enough will be outstanding to possibly change the final result.
