While the 2018 election in Orange County proved disastrous for Republicans, they aren’t conceding. Two potential candidates are looking to challenge freshman Rep. Gil Cisneros (D-Yorba Linda). Former state Assemblywoman Young Kim (R), who lost by just under 8,000 votes to Mr. Cisneros in November’s congressional election, is considering another attempt. Yorba Linda City Councilwoman Peggy Huang (R) is also confirming that she is contemplating becoming a candidate.
The Citizen Voting Age population figures find Asians having 28.5% of this district’s residents, while Hispanics record 27.2%. Though CA-39 has a Republican history, at least until this last election, Rep. Cisneros is the early favorite to win again.
