Former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore (R), who lost the controversial 2017 special Alabama Senate election, confirmed in a radio interview that he is seriously considering entering the 2020 Senate contest. US Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Mobile) and state Auditor Jim Zeigler are already announced Republican primary candidates.
Mr. Moore’s presence in the race would likely force the June 5, 2020 primary into a July 17th run-off election. Republicans will need to deny Moore the nomination if the party is to regain what will prove to be a critical 2020 cycle Senate seat.
