Christopher Newport University (Wason Center; 10/2-6; 928 registered voters; 616 likely voters) finds Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D) leading former Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie (R), 49-42%. Even though the polling sample appears a bit skewed in the Republicans favor, the ballot test results favor the Democrats from top to bottom. Without access to the published crosstabs, it is difficult to see why such would be the case, but the preponderance of available polling data suggest that Mr. Northam has a discernible advantage, nonetheless.
