Alderman Lyda Krewson likely won the Mayor’s position on Tuesday night in capturing the Democratic nomination with just 32% of the vote. The majority black electorate split their votes among three African American candidates, which allowed Krewson to slip by city Treasurer Tishaura Jones by just two percentage points. Ms. Krewson now faces Republican Andrew Jones in the fall, but this election is likely only a formality in this most Democratic of cities.
