Early yesterday, rumors were beginning to quickly swirl that former New York Jets’ Center Nick Mangold was about to enter the open 11th District seat from which House Appropriations Committee chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-Morristown) is retiring. Then, virtually just as fast, Mr. Mangold then announced that he would not run. In the race is state Assemblyman Jay Webber for the Republicans, possibly to be followed by state Assemblyman Tony Bucco. Democrats feature two candidates who have done well on the fundraising circuit: attorney Mikie Sherrill and businesswoman Tamara Harris.
